Sacred Ritual Tools – caring for and working with your tools in right relationship
What is a Sacred Ritual Tool?
Sacred Tools are an ancient and ancestral type of Spirit Technology, meaning they enhance our connection and communication with the Spirit World. This could be your Medicine Drum, Shamanic Rattle, set of Oracle Cards, Runes, Pendulum or even a particular Crystal you work with as an ally in your ritual practices.
Historically, Sacred Tools have been used to induce a particular state of consciousness e.g. meditative trance through drumming for practices such as divination, journeying and healing.
When working with a tool we want to ensure we are tuned to the right “radio frequency” so we are clearly communicating with loving and helpful allies rather than ones who may want to trick, mislead or harm us.
Sacred Tools for the Spirit Worker are as an instrument is to the musician. When we work with our tools in the right conditions, e.g. right relationship, right permissions, right initiations and right teachings, we have the potential to become both the conductor and the musician of Sacred Spaces.
What does it mean to be in right relationship with a Sacred Tool?
Being in right relationship with a Sacred Tool is not only about honouring, caring and tending to this sacred animate object but also about being in right relationship with yourself, in all areas of your life and the greater human collective.
When we embody noble values and live truthfully with virtues such as honesty, integrity, kindness, love, humility and high moral and ethical standards we begin to tune our own inner radio frequency to that of right relationship with self which then ripples into our reality and ultimately all of our relationships.
Everyone has their own individual barometer of integral and ethical standards. However if we lie, cheat, steal and speak poorly of others then we can only expect to receive the same treatment in return.
As within, so without.

- Copy rituals of others from Google, books, Social Media etc.
- Replicate rituals from other cultures and lineages
A tradesman goes to trade school to learn how to work with his tools in a safe, effective and efficient way to ensure he is not putting his clients and their property at risk of damage.
This is no different for a Spirit Worker in a Sacred Space.
Caring for your Sacred Tool
Tools such as wooden handled rattles with raw hide heads are sensitive to humidity and weather changes.
- Keep your tools covered at all times, unless in use.
- Ensure your tools remain dry and out of moist humid spaces.
- If your tool looses its shape or sound due to humidity you may like to warm it by the fire or in close proximity to a heater. Keep a close eye on your tools as it won’t take long.
- If your tool becomes mouldy or damp, follow the steps above to dry it out. An outdoor fire is preferred so that mould spores aren’t spread throughout your home.
- If you live in an area where excessive moisture or humidity is unavoidable, you may like to invest in some moisture absorbing sachets.
- You may like to make an antifungal spray with an essential oil of such as clove, eucalyptus or cedarwood to use as required.
A note from a Sacred Tool Maker
For more information and training opportunities please refer to the work of my teacher Sharon Bolt of The White Dragon Lineage in her premier training Sacred Space Weaver. This initiatory experience covers everything you need to know to get started with Sacred Ritual Tools, being in Right Relationship, Spirit Initiations, Ceremony, Cleansing Rituals and so much more.
Sacred Space Weaver is a mythical manuscript for living a magickal life.
Enjoy working with your Sacred Ritual Tools, may you be guided by authentic practices to enhance your personal power, connection to Spirit and sovereignty of Soul.
Please note that all of my sacred ritual tool creations are spirited and magickally activated. They are not designed to be used as toys or fashion accessories. If this is your first time working with a spirit rattle or other sacred tool, it is recommended that start with personal use only. Misuse or abuse of these tools may result in serious karmic consequences of which I alleviate all responsibility from. It is strongly advised that you seek adequate training, permissions and initiations before using these tools on yourself and others.
